Lunch at Blue Plate

Blue Plate  has no outside seating (except two little tables on the front). That’s okay though because the service is good. The food is not original but it’s Good and that’s what we’re looking for. An American brunch/breakfast/lunch: perfect spot.

What I love about the US is that: half salad/soup and sandwich combo you can get! Yes, if you do not feel like eating an entire sandwich or wrap you can get a soup. I got the Matzo Ball Soup (like my Grandma’s) and the tuna melt. Delicious!

You must try the turkey, coleslaw, thousand island wrap too! And please remember to get one of their fresh juices (cucumber/apple) Bon Appétit.

Hama Sushi Dinner

Great spot in Venice, sitting at the sushi bar . Let the chef take care of you and you’ll be surprise. If you enjoy white fish and lemon just get the Chiso Lemon Roll it’s delicious.

We do not have anything similar in France. Japanese places are usually held by Chinese people. They serve exactly the same which is sashimi combo (salmon, tuna and white fish) usually not so fresh and not tasty at all.

We also have these chains of sushi take outs which are getting there (step by step) it’s more of a revisité (revisit) japanese food. A lot of different rolls with ingredients which are not at all japanese (cream cheese roll, lox, even nutella rolls with eggs) I wouldn’t say this is fine japanese cuisine but when you’re starving in Paris and need a light lunch it’s enough.

SushiShop is doing an awesome job lately, hiring French chefs (Thierry Marx) to “revisit” their menus, adding foie gras dishes/sushi, caviar and French style tartares. You guys can already check it out in NYC, they just opened a location there.

I’ll never trade any French japanese place for an average LA one though!

This is the best (in my opinion):

Shiso Lemon Roll Yellowtail, green onions and tempura shiso leaf inside, with thin slices of Halibut, and lemon on top with yuzu juice, chili oil, and salt  19.00

(you can also order half rolls)

Muffinees

This is the easiest and fastest recipe. When I was starving but in a hurry in the morning, I’d used to make these. It’s not really a muffin so I decided to call it Muffinees (cute touch)

I do not have a microwave anymore in LA, so no more of these little cute goodies.

Ingredients :

Two eggs, apple sauce (thickest one you can find), cinnamon, honey or agave sirup and little little flour …

Plastic or glass muffin tin to bake in the microawe. On high for about 5 minutes. You can always add fruits, maple sirup, honey …
